Hottest Summer Pattern of Past 40-Years Playing Out Next 2-EIA Storage Sample Weeks

July 18, 2022 Both the GFS and EC weather models forecast the greatest number CDDs over a 2-week period of the past 4-decades. The currently July 15-21 EIA sample week is forecast to be the #2 hottest week of the past 41-years. The July 22-28 EIA week is forecast to be the #1 hottest of the past 40-years with near 105 CDDs over that period. The reason for such strong national CDDs to reach record highs is due impressively hot conditions as unseasonably strong/hot upper high pressure rules most of the US w/highs of 90s and 100s besides the far northern US where highs will often stay in the 80s. Longer range weather maps for early August continue to favor hotter than normal temperatures over most of the US for what would keep weather sentiment solidly bullish if it were to hold, which is our expectation.
